WE SAW A GIANT PACIFIC OCTOPUS TODAY! It was SO COOL! I might say my life is complete. Maybe you have seen a giant octopus before – but for me this elusive creature I’ve only witnessed in captivity. We were walking on the pier. Someone spied a big lion jelly in the shallow waters. This led to checking out the starfish…. and then I noticed this big shape working its way in to the shallow water…. it was an octopus! We watched this magnificent creature for at least 20 minutes. It scuttled along the sand looking for a meal. The water was maybe 4 feet deep and we were a good 20 feet above it on the dock so the picture is quite faint. It was a bright red/orange color. and it moved alternating between spreading out some tentacles to being all bunched up with tentacles bent. They can hustle!
