We are here! It’s been 3 days of winding our way through city streets, chasing holiday lights at night, eating the “menu del dia” as our big mid day meal and soaking in the charm of quaint, narrow, streets. Spain is a delight to the senses; well dressed women, the sounds of spanish (and other languages) a soothing melody, warm sun that heats your skin scaring off the chill of 50 degee days. Store fronts dripping with chocolates, cakes and cheese wheels, the clanking of wine glasses as people celebrate the evening with tapas and drinks. Holiday cheer in the streets: children, teens, couples, elders, babystrollers, families, youth, tourists… the streets are PACKED from 5:30 to 9:30 as if waking early the next day is not a necessity. We are finding joy sliding through the city and letting it breathe all over us. (OK, maybe not the best image in the time of covid) How about breathe life into us. Mike and I are still in awe of being here.
A quick note: Masks are worn by the majority of folks here, even walking the streets! They are required to enter any store, transportation, building, etc….. There is hand sanitizer everywhere and reminders to wash hands and stand 1.5 meters away. Interesting to see how covid is being handled here.
A smattering of photos to provide flavor with this introductory post…..

What a fantastic introductory! So glad you two are enjoying, have some wine for the Darling‘s while you were there☮️

I read this post back in December. Just re-read it. Sounds like a wonderful immersion into another culture! I traveled to Spain on a school trip way back in 1979. Grade 9 Madrid, Torremolinos, Malaga

Elaine, 1979 Spain…. This was JUST after Franco died and Spain was no longer under the traditional dictatorship. It was opening up. From your 9th grade perspective I don’t imagine you would make note of much of that unless you had an excellent social studies teacher with you or you were a more aware 9th grader than I! I am trying to learn the Spain History but much of it goes in one ear and out the other. I’m not much for that chronological thinking. Very fun to hear of your Spain connection. Thanks for sharing.
