The baths at the Royal Palace.

You may have seen this image in publications about the Royal Palace in Seville. It is this amazing when you see it in person. That is the theme of this post. Places or images that stand out as I review my time in Seville.

The Metroposal and the aurora light show at night.

This is only a third of the Metroposal, a modern art building/structure that stands on top of a mercado. It’s a gathering spot for families, lovers, bikers, kids, toursists and locals alike.

One view of the Plaza de Espana.

Built for the 1929 Expo in Seville, Plaza de Espana is an inspiring place. Inspiring enough to create Naboo in the Star Wars movies. It houses many government offices now.

Looking up at the ceiling and archway with ornate Moorish decore in the Royal Alcazar.

The intricacy of the ceilings, walls and doors. To run your hand over the work is to feel a thousand smooth ridges that were carved by hand. The Royal Alcazare has a lot of Moorish architecture.

The narrow cobbled streets! The smaller the better. I love the plants on the balconies and the curve of the calle. These streets delight me. Old town Seville is a maze of them. These are uncharecteristicaly colorful – not white.

Tile, tile and more tile. These tile designs on the walls are from the 1530’s. This Andalucian palace was a sensuous feast for the eyes. While I am SURE there were no golden orbs on tables in the 15th century, they do go along with the feeling of the room.

Companionship. This peacock and duck were a definate unit. I think many of us feel this way in relationship at times – like we are an odd match!
