If you are a christian, you may be familiar with this day. It’s the arrival of the three wise men, the Magi, who brought gifts to honor the newly born baby Jesues. In my house growing up we had a manger scene. In addition to hiding the baby jesues until Christmas eve, my mom also had the three wise men on camels set out a ways from the manger. The would move closer each day after the birth finally arriving at the manger scene on January 6th, Epiphany!

As Mike and I traveled around leading up to Christmas we were astounded at the effort and attention put into the Nativity scenes. Now we know why…..

Here in Spain the celebratory day is Epiphany! By celebratory I mean this is the day the gifts are given. It’s a family time….. but the day before is the wonderful wild celebration of the Three Kings by way of a parade!

This is a parade for everyone but particularly kids. All of the floats throw candy and confetti as they roll by, and I mean bucket loads of candy. Kids (and grownups alike) are scrambling around picking candy off the ground, stuffing thier bags and pockets full! It’s a blast. Disney, Marvel and comic characters have thier place in the parade but the grand finale are the Kings.

Confetti for All!
